It's the only thing protecting my dashingly good looks from getting up to bad-breath range with the pavement underneath me. And, though I do appreciate having my trusty head-saving friend, I do occasionally wish that it wouldn't be so awkward to carry around with me when I run in the bank. For years, I've stuck my helmet on the seat of my bike, hoping that no one would see it unprotected and walk off with it, leaving me to wonder if it found a good home, or if it is going to be used as a flower pot.

Biker's Choice seems to be on the same page. They have a chrome-plated motorcycle helmet lock that can be mounted almost anywhere on your bike, and it's not going to stand out and look like a lump on the log when you're done installing it, too. It comes with all the mounting hardware that you need, and two keys (always a good idea to keep a spare). All isn't lost if it's a little loose around when you're done mounting it, too. Because of the clamp design, all you need is a little bit of spare rubber (like from an old inner tube). Take a small strip and wrap it around the bar before you clamp the Biker's Choice lock on. It'll take out any extra slack.

Biker’s Choice Premium Motorcycle Engine Oil Case http://www.spotmotorcycles.com/biker%e2%80%99s-choice-premium-motorcycle-engine-oil-case/ http://www.spotmotorcycles.com/biker%e2%80%99s-choice-premium-motorcycle-engine-oil-case/#comments Sat, 11 Jul 2009 21:59:50 +0000 Brad http://www.spotmotorcycles.com/?p=1089 Biker's Choice Premium MotorcycleA box of oil can be a very good thing. Assuming you remembered to order the filters too, you can rest easy that you've enough oil for a multitude of of oil changes, knowing that you got that oil for a good price. It's like money in the bank, except that it's oil by the box.

Your motorcycle's motor needs oil. Parts must move, and as the crank-bone's connected to the rod-bone, the rod-bone's connected to the wrist-pin, etc., better that they move together with some lubrication between them. It's usually best to refer to your owner's manual for SAE viscosity recommendations as well.

More words on SAE ratings: The "W" on multi-viscosity oils refers to Winter Grade, meaning these oils have been tested in cold temperatures. If the oil performs as expected for a SAE 10W at cold temperature, then flows like a SAE 40 at high temperature (210 degrees Fahrenheit or 100 degrees Celsius), this receives a 10W-40 designation. For clarity's sake, the only time the oil runs at the low-viscosity is when the engine is cold. At operating temperature, the oil performs at its higher SAE designation.

Biker's Choice sells their Premium engine oil by the bottle, case, or even in a 55-gallon drum if you're really ambitious. Be aware that this is their non-synthetic oil; if interested, they also offer synthetic, transmission, and chain-case lubricants, but sell these latter options only by the bottle.

BC Biker’s Choice Arched Truck Ramp | Bike Transportation, Storage http://www.spotmotorcycles.com/bc-bikers-choice-arched-ramp/ http://www.spotmotorcycles.com/bc-bikers-choice-arched-ramp/#comments Tue, 12 May 2009 00:13:35 +0000 Star http://www.spotmotorcycles.com/?p=765 BC Biker's Choice Arched Ramp Some years ago I was riding to Wyoming with some buddies. Just over the border of Nevada, one of us hit pea gravel, and down he went. It happened in an instant -- one second he was upright, the next he was under his bike. This was no lightweight bike. This was a big heavy beast with a huge engine and hard bags. We had been separated from the others in our party and I could not get his bike lifted off of him -- a family in a minivan stopped and they all poured out and tried to
help, as he was hurt. But pain can do funny things to a guy, and finally he said "step back" and he lifted the bike off of himself and stood up.

Needless to say he didn't ride it further. The front end was shot and he had broken ribs. We had to re-think and re-route everything, and several days later when we finally returned for his damaged bike, one of my thoughts was "how the heck are we going to get it in the trailer?"

Well, thank the biker gods for the arched ramp. Having a ramp to begin with makes every bit of difference. Besides, it is much easier to push a heavy bike up an arched ramp than a straight one, or even worse, one with a bow in it. Whether you are transporting your bike to the shop for repair, or whether you are calling your buddy to come get you in the event of a breakdown, a motorcycle ramp will save you time and chiropractor's bills. The Biker's Choice Arched Ramp runs around $130 and is worth every last penny.

Here's a wider ramp, sans arch but with a massive loading capacity.

Biker’s Choice RPM Tachometer | Aftermarket Part, Classic Analog Style http://www.spotmotorcycles.com/bikers-choice-rpm-tachometer-aftermarket-part-classic-analog-style/ http://www.spotmotorcycles.com/bikers-choice-rpm-tachometer-aftermarket-part-classic-analog-style/#comments Thu, 23 Apr 2009 17:17:00 +0000 Brad http://www.spotmotorcycles.com/?p=399 Biker's Choice RPM Tachometer Here's a 2.5" diameter tachometer that does one thing really well: it displays your engine's revolutions per minute (RPMs). Is anyone surprised by this? Probably not. But this particular Biker's Choice model is a universal mount, chrome-plated electric tachometer (not mechanically driven) and has a clean and easy-to-read analog white face-that is to say, as long as it isn't dark. This model is not lighted.

An electric tachometer is defined, in engineering terms, as a "device used to gauge an engine's rotational velocity by measuring a generator's output voltage." Tachometers are handy when tuning engines; for knowing when to shift, especially as relates to racing; and sometimes you don't need a reason, they just look good on your bike. And you'll probably notice yourself becoming accustomed to knowing where your tach sits at various speeds, especially on long trips.

Installation is fairly quick and easy. Basically, mount the instrument where it's of the most use/aesthetically pleasing to you, and attach the wires where the directions tell you. The price is very much in line with competitors.

Don't panic - you don't have to sell the bike and get a car just yet.

Here's a resilient balaclava that Comfort in Action produced to solve this very dilemma. Its Gore Windstopper fleece insert keeps you warm and snug, but the material is thin enough so it doesn't overheat you on the road.

The outer material itself is treated for all-weather travel, so not only does it take care of the bitter wind chill factor, but it's also a great repellentĀ if you're more concerned about water resistance.

Any balaclava will cover where it's supposed to, but check out the contouring on this Comfort In Action model. The seams down the jaw line and neck help make the fit just that much more comfortable, protecting the top of the head down to the upper chest region and everything in between.

This balaclava by Comfort In Action seems like it does exactly what it was meant to do: ward off the elements so you can enjoy a great ride.

Here's another balaclava to consider: the REV'IT! Blaze.

The aerodynamically shaped, simulated leather goggles fit snugly to your face, keeping wind, bugs, and everything the road throws at you out of your eyes.

And if something damages a lens, they are replaceable -- and the split lens means you only have to replace the damaged one.

The frames are padded for comfort, and the strap is fully adjustable. They are an excellent choice for eye protection when riding with a skid lid, and the frames will slip right under the helmet.

If your bike is retro, shouldn't your goggles be, too?
