Many products have appeared on the market to compensate for the fact that more and more bikes are being manufactured without center stands. I think it would be easier if the motorcycle manufacturers would clue in and give us back the convenience of the center stand, but if you don't wrench you'd probably wonder why you have a heavy chunk of metal under your machine.
For those of us who like the intimacy of working on our bikes, there are options. Cycle Line's scissor lift jack will raise any jack-friendly bike of up to 1,000 pounds. If you bike weighs more than 1,000 pounds, you either own a car and are confused or your machismo is getting a tad out of hand. I know someone who built a 4.7-ton bike powered by a tank engine, and that's awesome in the traditional sense of the word, but you're not going to be working on that kind of beast.
I'm more comfortable with the stability of front and rear stands, but they are not adjustable and they are not made for every kind of bike. This scissor jack is small at 15.25 x 9 inches, and will lift your bike from a minimum height of 3.5 inches to a maximum height of 13.25 inches. The jack has a rubber pad to prevent damage to your machine and is a bargain for about $120.
Sadly, it looks like Cycle Line is going out of business. If you're thinking of picking up a good jack, I would get it soon or they'll be gone.
