You can rest assured your battery will get the electricity it needs in a format it understands, provided you order the correct charger. These chargers are specific to certain continents and countries and will not work outside of the areas each is designed for. Harley has a "fitment matrix" to help you figure out which one you need.
These 1.5-amp battery chargers are designed to bring your bike's battery to maximum charge and keep it there without overcharging. The device goes into "float mode" and will keep the battery charged even over long periods of time. Included in the package is a fused alligator-clip charging harness to connect to the battery. It can take worldwide voltage from 110-240 volts AC at 50-60 Hertz, and the total weight of the device and cords is about five pounds.
Also available, and for not much extra cash, is the heavy-duty battery charging harness with ring terminals. This is mounted to your battery and has a plug at the other end that will connect to any of the global charging units. Because it's permanently mounted, there's no need to fool with connecting to the battery terminals every time; you just plug it in and begin charging.
