We review lots of protective gear here at Spot Motorcycles: textile jackets and pants, leather jackets and pants, and every combination of the two. However, there is a simple fact: for the ultimate protection, a full suit is still the king. Also known as racing leathers, a one-piece suit will protect the rider in a fall like nothing else.
The Teknic Violator One Piece Race Suit boasts drum-dyed, Brazilian cowhide outer shell construction in 1.2-1.4 mm thickness. Removable armor is all Knox CE-approved (shoulders, elbows and knee/shin, and spine). In addition to the premium leather, super tough DuPont Kevlar is used in vital places on the suit as well.
The cut of the suit is of the "racer" motif with pre-curved arms and legs. In keeping with the race design is an airflow hump for better suit aerodynamics, neck and back protection, and increased air movement in the suit. All zippers are YKK.
Now on to my personal experience with the Violator line. While I have not owned the full suit, I have ridden in the Violator jacket. It was an extremely high quality jacket. However, the line runs small. I had to wear a jacket size 52 when I usually wear a 48 in most leather jackets. If I were going for race fit, I would have worn a 50. With this in mind (and based on user comments on the full suit), you will probably need to order up a size or two.
