Silkolene Engine Oil Much has been written and more has been said about which brand of pre-mix to use for your engine and what fuel-to-mix ratio is best. If you own and ride a two-stroke, you've heard lots of stuff, and maybe made up some of your own lore. But the real answers often seem as individual as the bikes.

My old KX500 liked a 50:1 mix, my ancient PE-250 preferred 30:1, and my weed-eater wouldn't run right on anything but 24:1 as recommended by the manufacturer. And none of those engines expressed a brand preference. My guess is you follow the recommendations for your bike, and then tweak your mix ratio to that bike over time and by experience.

Meanwhile, most companies strive to provide a usable and reliable product. Fuchs-Silkolene, headquartered in the U.K., is no exception. Their Comp 2 Pre-mix is an ester-based synthetic engine oil. Silkolene's "Electrosyntec Technology" (essentially an anti-friction modifying agent) is meant to further reduce friction and release power that would otherwise be used by the engine working against itself.

Comp 2 was made for off-road competition. But even if you don't compete, this oil will hold up well if you're only able to ride seasonally or just occasionally. Its ashless formula means a cleaner burning engine and a green bonus of less smoke out of your exhaust.

This oil is available in the one gallon (four liter) size, so you can save a few bucks and ride the literal daylight out of your two-stroke thumper... and live happily ever after.
