Anyone who's ever had a job climbing telephone poles knows what lineman's boots look like. For those of you who don't, they are a waterproof, leather boot that comes up to the knee, and the laces must pass through thirty-six eyes and hooks to properly secure these things. One of my friends uses them for his riding boots, and I always need to give him an extra 10 minutes to get ready.
Tour Master's Response SC road boot slips on quickly. I'm seeing more and more short boots on the road. Both the look and convenience are unparalleled if you don't mind exposed shins. Speaking of the look, with the smooth leather of the Response you might be able to pull off "business casual" with these boots.
The Response is all about the ride when it comes to the design. A 1.8 mm to 2.0 mm waterproof leather exterior is stitched together with waterproof thread. Reinforcements on the outside and inside of the toe protect the boot and your foot during shifting, and molded plastic ankle bone protectors dot both sides of the Response. To increase visibility, Tour Master included Scotchlite panels on the back and sides.
A protective panel covers the laces, and a slipper-like soft interior gives you all the comfort you could want in any type of footwear. Throw in the oil resistant sole, and you have have a complete motorcycle boot for all occasions for around $100. If my buddy with the lineman's boots were to switch to these, he would add about a week's worth of riding time to his season.
