I'm something of a traditionalist. Logically, I know that synthetics have come a long way and many can hold their own when pitted against leather, but I have an irrational fondness for hide. Humans have been using leather since we stopped running around naked, after all, while synthetics have been around only a handful of decades. I am reaching a point where I'm willing to compromise on some things, like this small PVC tool bag from Xelement.
A bag like this is a good way to try out some PVC equipment without investing too much money or challenging that bizarre sentimental response folks have for their jackets. Xelement's black and grey tool bag is lightweight, durable, and water resistant. Measuring 6 inches high, 10 inches long, and 3.5 inches deep, you can fit a decent set of wrenches and then some.
An internal flap that snaps in place will prevent water damage to your tools, and the full wrap straps with double chrome buckles keep everything in place. The bag is set up to strap to your forks, but you can get creative with placement.
Xelement is hit or miss as far as their stitching quality is concerned, but this bag seems solid. It even has a pseudo-leathery look if you're not ready to admit that you're crossing over to the dark side. The cost is the most attractive feature of this bag that has no obvious flaws. There is a theoretical list price of $60, but I think that's just for show because it's selling almost everywhere for about $20.
